Len was laid to rest on Saturday February 26, 2000. On Friday about 350 friends and relatives visited with Jean and our families at the Adams-Winterfield & Sullivan Funeral Home in Downers Grove. Brother Joe led us in prayer to close the evening. On Saturday we began with our final visitation, and we prayed with Pastor Marty Hufford. We proceeded to Immanuel Lutheran Church, and opened with "Amazing Grace, How Sweet the Sound". Ron Ewald gave a eulogy about Len's principles, how he lived, preached, and practiced them. Jerry(me), spoke about Len's relationships with his wife, children, family and friends, and his impact on their lives. Pastor Hufford tied together our talks, and Len's writings on Liberty. He taught us with a number of examples that "It is for freedom that Christ has set us free". We prayed "The Lord's Prayer", and concluded with "How Great Thou Art". The entourage of about 50 cars went in procession to Fairmont Willow Hills Memorial Park, where Pastor Hufford said a final prayer at the gravesite. The rain forecast for the day was postponed until after all services were concluded. We proceeded to The Old Barn restaurant where we shared a meal together.
Len's relatives friends and associates shared stories with the group about their memories
of time spent with Len. We closed with Jerry & Judy leading the group in singing one
of Len's favorite songs in harmony, "Tell Me Why". Remembrances: St. Thomas Hospice and Community Support Services
